[Mankato] Meeting 8/12/21

Commander's Remarks: 
Seniors and Cadets this coming Sunday August 15th is the Mankato Fly-in Drive-in Breakfast at the Mankato Airport. Our squadron has been asked by the Local EAA chapter to participate in this event. Cadets will be able to cook breakfast and marshall planes. This will be a great opportunity to represent our squadron and promote Civil Air Patrol to our community. Be prepared to sign-up at our meeting this week. The uniform of the  day will be ABU’s for Cadets and Corporate for Seniors. Cadet’s don’t forget to bring your 60-80 forms for the fly-in. We will have two sign-up volunteer service blocks:

1st Volunteer Service Block - 7:30 am to 10:30 am 
2nd Volunteer Service Block - 10:30 am to 1:30 pm
Cadets sign-up for CyberPatriot today! CyberPatriot is excellent training for anyone interested in cybersecurity training. We have an expert in cybersecurity ready to train you! So come join the fun.

MLA - Seniors
Senior Staff Applications for the 2021 Minnesota Leadership Academy are now open!  MLA is 20-24 October 2021 at Camp Ripley.  We are looking for class instructors, school advisors, and HQ staff. 
 
Kwik Trip Cards - More $100 cards are available. Contact Lt Col Peters at 507-327-0362 or jopeters at hickorytech.net to coordinate. 

CyberPatriot - Cadets participating in this year’s competition will need a CAPF 60-80 to register. Give the completed form to 1st Lt West.  CAPF 60-80 link.

BlackCAP XXXIV - Sept 24 to Sept 26, 2021. Location of Activity: Red Wing CAP Hanger and surrounding area.  Cost: $25 (contact Maj. Carlstrom # 651-280-7289 for more information).  The link for sign ups is: https://www.mncap.org/online/activity/app_start.cfm?activityid=2307, 
Sign-up closes on September 1, 2021.

Cadet Orientation Flights - Contact/text SM Wittenburg at +1 (319) 929-0445 or Madison.Wittenburg at outlook.com  if interested in flying. She will be the orientation pilot this week. Priority is given to those that have never had one or those getting close to 18 years old.

Color Guard - Those interested in joining Colorguard should contact C/SMSgt Beiswanger, for more information. Colorguard practice starts at 1815 (6:15 pm).  

Mankato Squadron Tan T-Shirt - If interested, we have tan t-shirts with the squadron logo on them that can be worn under the ABU’s.  If you are interested, they are $12.00 each.  Please see 2nd Lt. Mader if you are interested.

Squadron YouTube Channel - One of our staff members has set up a YouTube channel. It is a tool to help show you where to find things like Online Testing and Testing Request Forms.
