Commander's Remarks: 
The fifth Thursday of the month is always scheduled as a fun night for Cadets, Seniors, and Parents! Since it only happens a few times per year we try to plan a group activity that both Cadets and Seniors can enjoy. Due to the heat and other factors this week we will be watching the movie Top Gun starring Tom Cruise. 
Inspired by a 1983 article in California Magazine, Top Gun is a fictional story based on life at the real US Naval Air Station Miramar in San Diego County, CA, which until 1996 was the home of the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program, nicknamed TOPGUN. 
This will be a great time to socialize before and after the movie and get to know each other on a more casual basis. I hope you will join us for this fun night. 
 
MLA - Cadets - Applications are still open for MLA Cadet Exec Staff.  The deadline for submitting applications is midnight 28 July. Everyone who has attended MLA in the past should consider being a part of the executive staff. This is a great leadership opportunity for you to consider. 
Cadets sign-up for CyberPatriot today!  CyberPatriot is excellent training for anyone interested in cybersecurity training. We have an expert in cybersecurity ready to train you!

Announcements: 
All Testing - Requested by Tuesday Evening 2359H. No exceptions. 

Senior Members - attend a Training Leaders of Cadets (TLC) Basic Course on 7/31/21.  
Arrive at 8:30 and the course will start at 9:00 a.m. and finish by about 4:00 p.m.
Location:  Minnesota Safety Council, 474 Concordia Ave, St Paul, MN 55103.  
Cost:  $15 to cover lunch.  Uniform:  Polo shirt.  Class size is limited.  
Please register by 7/23/21.  Wing covid protocols will be followed.

MLA - Seniors
Senior Staff Applications for the 2021 Minnesota Leadership Academy are now open!  MLA is 20-24 October 2021 at Camp Ripley.  We are looking for class instructors, school advisors, and HQ staff.

CyberPatriot - Cadets participating in this year’s competition will need a CAPF 60-80 to register. Give the completed form to 1st Lt West.  CAPF 60-80 link.

Cadet Orientation Flights - Contact/text SM Wittenburg at +1 (319) 929-0445 or Madison.Wittenburg at outlook.com  if interested in flying. She will be the orientation pilot this week. Priority is given to those that have never had one or those getting close to 18 years old.

Color Guard - Those interested in joining Colorguard should contact C/SMSgt Beiswanger, for more information. Colorguard practice starts at 1815 (6:15 pm).  

Mankato Fly-in Drive-in Breakfast - August 15. Check-in for workers will be 0800 in ABU’s at the Mankato Airport. Our squadron has been asked by the Local EAA chapter to partake in this event. Cadets will be able to cook breakfast and marshall planes.

Mankato Squadron Tan T-Shirt - If interested, we have tan t-shirts with the squadron logo on them that can be worn under the ABU’s.  If you are interested, they are $12.00 each.  Please see 2nd Lt. Mader if you are interested.
