Good Afternoon Everyone,
The weather is improving and we are seeing an increase in flying! I wanted
to take this opportunity to send out a few reminders.
* Become proficient at WIMIRS and check periodically to see if there
are any funded flying opportunities and what the Mission Requirements and
Deliverables are. (See screenshots below)
* Complete a thorough preflight and post-flight and report any
discrepancies immediately to your FRO and the squadron operations officers.
This includes any missing or damaged equipment (e.g. headsets, fuel sample
strainer, CAP approved checklists) Take pictures.
* If you cannot fly a sortie for any reason and you are not going to
be able to reschedule it, make sure that you "cancel" the sortie. When a
sortie is created for a funded mission, it automatically dedicates funds to
that sortie based on an expected cost formula and will keep those funds
unusable by other sorties. This can result in missions being over budget in
WIMIRS when they actually have fundings, but it is being reserved by sorties
that were not canceled.
* Every field is required on the Form 104, even if it is entered at
N/A. Full completion of all paperwork is emphasis point of CAP-USAF.
Non-compliance could result in your flying privileges being restricted.
* If you are flying a funded flight, make sure that you complete the
MN 10 EZ. Make sure that you select the correct aircraft type and tail
number, the form does NOT automatically update the type when you put in the
tail number like WIMIRS does. The receipt must be legible and match the
information entered for the mission cost. You can download the MN10EZ from
the MNWG CAP website.
* Hint: You can download and edit the MN10EZ in MS Word and then copy
the receipt as an image into the form and scale it as necessary.
* Most funded training sorties must not exceed 1.5 hours. If you
exceed the allowed time, you are depriving other members of the opportunity
to fly and could be required to reimburse Civil Air Patrol.
* If you are an FRO, during your debrief, perform spots checks to make
sure that the paperwork is complete and correct.
* The MN/ES Team works hard to create training opportunities for all
our members. If you have specific training requests, please contact them to
see if there is a way to provide funding and mission planning support. The
sooner you engage them in the planning, the better your chances are of an
effective and efficient mission.
Fly Safe-Fly Often.
