<div dir="ltr">Hello MN wing pilots,<div><br></div><div>It's been nice to see the sun the last few days, hopefully our winter hibernation will be coming to an end soon!</div><div>During this slow period, I have been getting several things ready for us to hit the skies soon and resume our busier flight schedule.</div><div><br></div><div>First is the Check Pilot clinic is scheduled for Saturday April 15 from 9 am to 4pm at the Anoka squadron building (it will also be streamed for those that can't make it in person) If you didn't receive my email about this earlier this week and are planning on attending, please let me know so I can add you to the list to receive further information.</div><div><br></div><div>Second, an exciting change to our proficiency flying program. To help promote better mission readiness, pilot proficiency, and aircraft utilization, effective immediately each qualified MN wing pilot is eligible for <b>one funded AFAM A12 proficiency flight <i><u>per quarter</u> </i></b>instead of per year. The wing only had one A12 proficiency flight since Jan 1 of this year, so all wing pilots with the exceptions of Vincent Winstead all eligible for a proficiency flight between now and March 31. Then everyone would be eligible for another flight between April 1 and June 30 for the new quarter.</div><div>The ground rules for the funded A12 mission are:</div><div>- Must be a qualified CAP pilot</div><div>- An AFAM profile must be selected from CAP standards 71-4</div><div>- MUST MUST MUST COMPLETELY fill out all items on the brief and debrief sections of the mission in WMIRS. Even if an item only needs NA in the box.</div><div><br></div><div>Third, due to the way G1000 qualifications have been established, we have 35 of our pilots that will expire on the G1000 qualification due to needing the G1000 refresher ground training module in AXIS to be completed by March 31 of this year. You can check to see when you are due for the refresher training by going into your operations qualifications, choosing "what do I need" and then scroll down to the VFR pilot G1000 qualification and selecting that. It will bring up all the required items to be G1000 qualified, which includes the date the refresher course is required. </div><div><br></div><div>Finally, from the wing level a couple items that have been topics of late. We need to keep our airplanes flying more, our utilization is below where we would like to be. The winter weather this year definitely has not helped us, but when the weather does cooperate just keep in mind we want to get EVERYONE up flying. Another item that seems to plague us in the winter is dead airplane batteries, we are working on a plane to help alleviate this. The plan will probably become effective for next winter season. Lastly, we need to do a better job of keeping an eye on when maintenance items are coming due. This usually falls to the operations officer, but if you see something that is coming due make sure your ops officer is aware of it. If you are available to help shuttle your plane into and out of maintenance, it would also greatly appreciated.</div><div><br></div><div>I have attached this month's issue of the NHQ Stan/Eval newsletter. There is an article in this month's edition written by our own Maj.
