<div dir="ltr">Hello MN wing pilots,<div><br></div><div>Hard to believe the snow is finally gone! Soon the cadets will be finishing school for the summer and ready to do some orientation flights.</div><div>A few items to pass on to you this month:</div><div>We have completed 29 orientation flights this quarter so far (since April 1), a reminder that to be a successful mission these flights are supposed to be 0.8 to 1.2 hours. There have been several that have been below the 0.8 hours.</div><div>We have 17 pilot proficiency flights completed so far this quarter, and we are almost half way through, so if you haven't taken advantage of this funded flight please try and get out there soon.</div><div>The pilots flight clinic is underway, your squadron stan/eval officer will be completing the ground briefing after which all current TMP's and MP's will be eligible for the funded flight for proficiency.</div><div>An item that came out of wing conference was a discussion on pilot badges. We have a lot of new pilot members, and many members that have been here a while and may be able to upgrade their pilot badges. Here is the guidance from 70-1 and 35-6 for uniforms.</div><div><br></div><div><i>CAP R70-1 - to be able to wear pilot wings a member must complete the following items to be a qualified CAP pilot</i></div><div><i><br></i></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><i>4.1.2. CAP Pilot 4.1.2.1. To operate as a CAP Pilot in airplanes or gliders the member must:<u></u><u></u></i></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:0.5in"><i>4.1.2.1.1. Be current and qualified in accordance with the requirements of 14 CFR for a private pilot or higher certificate; and<u></u><u></u></i></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:0.5in"><i>4.1.2.1.2. Complete the CAP Aircrew Professionalism course.<u></u><u></u></i></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:0.5in"><i><span style="background:yellow">4.1.2.1.3. Have successfully passed a CAP Pilot Flight Evaluation in the appropriate category of aircraft within the past 12 calendar months;</span> and<u></u><u></u></i></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:0.5in"><i>4.1.2.1.4. Complete Level I of the senior member professional development program if a senior member.</i></p></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><i>CAP R35-6</i></div><div><i> 1. Aeronautical Ratings and Requirements. Requirements for CAP-member aeronautical ratings are:</i></div><div><i> a. CAP Solo Pilot Rating: Be qualified in accordance with (IAW) CAPR 70-1. </i></div><div><i> b. CAP Pilot Rating: Be qualified IAW CAPR 70-1. </i></div><div><i> c. CAP Senior Pilot Rating: </i></div><div><i> (1) Meet CAP pilot rating requirements. </i></div><div><i> (2) Have been an active CAP-rated pilot for at least 3 years (this service need not be continuous).</i></div><div><i> (3) Have a minimum of 1,000 hours pilot time logged in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). </i></div><div><i>d. CAP Command Pilot Rating: </i></div><div><i> (1) Meet CAP senior pilot requirements. </i></div><div><i> (2) Have been an active CAP pilot or senior pilot for at least 5 years (this service need not be continuous). </i></div><div><i> (3) Have a minimum of 2,000 hours pilot time logged IAW FARs. </i></div><div><i>e. This has been put together by our former Deputy wing commander LTC Ray Phillips. In this he has put together his decades of experience of flying in the private and airline industries and shared many insights that he applies and relates to our CAP flying.
