<div dir="ltr"><div>Good day, MN Wing Pilots!</div><div><br></div><div>As a follow up, there was a telecommunications issue with a service provider who supports 150+ airports across the country; 70+ of which are here in MN. </div><div><br></div><div>The telco line issue has been resolved, and we have seen the majority of our AWOS reports coming back online over the past hour. Please check your airport's AWOS status to confirm you are receiving the most updated information, and please let me know if you see any issues! Otherwise, have a very happy Holiday week and stay safe out there!</div><div><br></div><div>V/R, </div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div>--</div><div><br></div><div>Joel Siegel, M.S., SIP<br></div><div>(770)845-2792 (c)<br></div><div><br></div><div>"The best thing about being both a meteorologist and a pilot, is that you always have an excuse to have your face to the sky." </div><div><br></div></div></div></div><br><br><div class="gmail_quote gmail_quote_container"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">---------- Forwarded message ---------<br>From: <strong class="gmail_sendername" dir="auto">Joel Siegel</strong> <span dir="auto"><<a href="mailto:jsiegelwx@gmail.com">jsiegelwx@gmail.com</a>></span><br>Date: Mon, Dec 23, 2024 at 8:35 AM<br>Subject: MN AWOS METAR Issues<br>To: <<a href="mailto:pilots@lists.mncap.org">pilots@lists.mncap.org</a>><br></div><br><br><div dir="ltr"><div>Good morning, MN Wing Pilots. </div><div><br></div><div>As some of you may have noticed this morning, we are having an issue here in MN that is impacting the way Minnesota's AWOS sites are providing METARs. The data are not reaching NOAA, and therefore not being shown on AWC, Foreflight, or any other means you may use to view METARs digitally. This is impacting about <b>79 uncontrolled airports</b> across the state, including SGS, 21D, etc.</div><div><br></div><div>This being said, the AWOS are <b>broadcasting normally on VHF frequency and are available via calling the associated phone numbers</b> for those stations, so please call the AWOS directly for the latest weather if you are planning to fly today. </div><div><br></div><div>The FAA is aware of the issue and are quickly working to diagnose and correct the issue. I will try to send out an update when I hear more. </div><div><br></div><div>V/R,</div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div>--</div><div><br></div><div>Joel Siegel, M.S., SIP<br></div><div>(770)845-2792 (c)<br></div><div><br></div><div>"The best thing about being both a meteorologist and a pilot, is that you always have an excuse to have your face to the sky." </div><div><br></div></div></div></div></div>
