Hello MN wing pilots,

April 1st started a new quarter for us, and with the temperatures rising
and the snow disappearing (Finally!) we are all eligible for another funded
proficiency flight. So take advantage of this opportunity to knock off some
of the winter "rust" and gain more proficiency. We may be needed this
spring for some photo missions when all of this snow melts and starts
flooding many areas!

In recent review of some of our records a couple of loophole problems have
been identified and I wanted to pass them along to you so we can try to
avoid them.
First, if you are a new member or working with a new member, remember that
LVL 1 of the professional development training MUST be completed before a
member does their first form 5 checkride.
Secondly, if you are doing a form 5 in the C182 having the high performance
box initialized on the grading form is not the same as a FAR part 61.31 (f)
high performance sign off in your logbook. You must have the logbook
signoff to be able to be high performance qualified at CAP

Look for the pilots flight clinic to kick off in May. We will have the
usual one hour ground briefing that can be followed by 1.5 hours of funded
flying with an instructor to help increase our proficiency, especially in
rusty areas.

Speaking of instructors, we have added 4 new instructors to our wing in the
last couple of months with one more just around the corner, so it should be
much easier to find an instructor to fly with. The new instructors are:
