[Pilots] February Stan/Eval newsletter

Hello MN wing pilots,



Hopefully we are on the backside of winter, even though it has been a very
mild one.

Some items to point out this month,

-        You should be seeing a presentation by your squadron stan/eval or
operations officer on a review of WMIRS and AMRAD. We want to make sure
everyone is proficient in working with these two systems. This will avoid
data entry errors that can ground our planes unnecessarily. If you are
unable to attend one of these briefings let me know and I will send you the
power point presentation.

-        As we move into March many of our cadets will be on spring break
from school. Use this opportunity to schedule orientation flights and keep
our cadets flying.

-        One item that has come up several times recently. If you are
flying one or the CAP planes after a CAP USAF pilot pay close attention to
the flight id in the transponder. The CAP USAF pilots change the call sign
when they fly the planes and don’t always change it back to CAP flight
numbers when they are done. If you fly like this ATC shows CAP USAF’s
callsign on their data block and will become confused when you communicate
with ATC using CAP callsign and a non CAP data tag. Make sure you check
this, there is a reminder on the checklist.

-        Check pilots – our annual check pilot clinic will be held on
Saturday April 27 at the new camp Craig facility in Hutchinson. We will
start at 9 and be finished by 4. This will be a hybrid meeting so if you
can’t attend in person we will have an online meeting set up. I will send
out more details next month.

-        Instructors – remember that you must complete the TSA security
training, and have a certificate uploaded in Operations qualifications by
April 1 or your CAP flight instructor qualifications will expire.
