Happy New Year MN Wing Pilots,

We are ready to kick off a great new year of MN wing CAP flying! Some items to keep everyone “in the loop” for the start of the new year:
Our two new C172’s are still completing acceptance work. We are waiting for the engine heaters and winter blankets to arrive and be installed. Hopefully we will see these new planes out in the field soon!
Our SGS wing hangar now has security cameras installed to help protect all of the equipment we have there, so next time you go through the hangar remember to smile because big brother will be watching.
We have had a larger than normal number of pilots putting sorties on NCR missions. We need to be careful to select only the MN wing missions

One item that would help alleviate a lot of flight time entry errors would be if when you finish filling out the white book with your flight times you carry your ending times to the start times for the next flight. We get a large number of errors with this seemingly simple item

The winter flying mission has been very popular this year, and we ran out of funding for the mission for a few days, but with the help of Chief Vance we were able to secure more funding for the mission. So, winter can continue! We are also starting a new quarter for A12 proficiency flights, just remember to follow the guidelines in CAP standard 71-4 for the profiles you choose, and complete all the entries in WMIRS.
We have a task force starting that will be reviewing all funded flights to make sure the brief and debrief sections are filled out completely. This has been a weak area for us for several years and we want to clean it up before next year’s CI inspection. So please make sure you are filling in all the boxes, so we don’t have to contact you to do it later.
For those of you who have done a B or C mission and haven’t seen a bill for the flight, the finance department has told me that they are a couple of months behind in the billing due to the changes in personnel they have had in their department over the last couple of months, but they haven’t forgotten and you should be receiving your bill soon.
Take Care and Fly Safe,
Capt. Greg Bestul
