[Pilots] Flying Neighborly

Hello MN Wing Pilots,

An issue has arisen that needs to be addressed. We have been getting complaints from area airports about noise, namely from our planes operating at night and doing multiple touch and go's or stop and go's.

We need to be considerate of the people that live close to the airports and do our best to not create a problem for them by continually flying over their houses at night.

While it might be the best option for us to go around the pattern 3 times to get night currency, spreading the landings out at a couple of different airports would certainly help with the noise factor. If you plan to do more that 3 patterns you definitely will want to spread them out over more than one airport.

If you operate out of FCM, 21D, LVN, ANE, MIC, STP, or SGS they have noise abatement procedures to help limit the noise to the residents. Mostly we want to limit the number of traffic patterns we fly to 3 or less after 10 pm and no touch and goes after midnight through 0700 am.

I have attached the "flying neighborly" link so you can pull up the specific information for each of the airports that MAC operates.

We want to try and keep the noise to a minimum at all airports at night, so even if you are at an outstate airport be considerate of the residents and refrain from flying multiple patterns over town after 10pm.

Thank you for your help with this, we want to be a good neighbor and have respect from the people that live around the airports.
