[Pilots] New CAP 70-1 regulation change

Hello MN Wing Pilots
I hope everyone enjoyed a great July fourth!
I wanted to give everyone a heads up of an upcoming change that is about to take place. On this Monday July 6th the new 70-1 interim change letter is to come out and be effective immediately. This will change a few items for us.
The biggest change will be the landing currency requirement. After Monday if you are not landing current (3 takeoffs and landings within the previous 90 days. This applies to day and night currency) You will need to take a flight instructor (who is landing current) with you to regain your landing currency. We will not be able to go up by ourselves to regain landing currency anymore once we have expired. One note is landing currency does not have to be in a CAP aircraft, if you fly a single engine airplane elsewhere and are landing current that is still good to fly CAP aircraft.
The other new change is the creation of a new pilot qualification – CAP maintenance pilot. This qualification is required if you are part of a crew that is flying an airplane that has just received an engine overhaul, cylinder replacement, or new plane from the factory. To qualify for this status you must be a CAP pilot, Transport mission pilot, have completed the maintenance pilot training course in ABSORB and be appointed by wing commander or DO.
There are several minor changes and modifications to the 70-1 regulations in the new ICL, so take a look through it when it comes out and update any 70-1 regulations you have copies of.
If you are presently not landing current, either day or night, you have a couple of days to still go out by yourself to get current before this new regulation takes effect.
